Am I right in thinking, Mr Crowe performed this particular song completely different to how you expected? Judging by the facial expression in your (marvelous) drawing anyway.
I rather liked him, actually. I thought he did quite well. When he first appeared in the film, I wasn't to keen on his singing. But next time around I saw the uniqueness and appeal in it and grew rather fond of his voice.
I am sorry, how rude of me to interrupt your goings on like this. I feel rather foolish now.

I absolutely adored Russell as Javert! I thought his portrayal was refreshing and completely different from what I was expecting. He showed a gentle and human side to Javert that is usually not shown on stage.
Around when I drew this we only had a few on-set photos of Russell Javert, and I used a lot of costume/performance reference of Philip Quast's Javert. You're completely right, Russell's "Stars" has a quite a different mood than what I showed here, and I really enjoyed Russell's soft and meditative version of the song. I think he said himself over twitter that stars was a prayer, and I think his performance definitely gave that impression.
